Printer Models
Derring Hall:
- Mailroom 1: KONICA MINOLTA bizhub 450i
- Mailroom 2: KONICA MINOLTA bizhub 958
To receive printer IP information, please contact Biology IT office at biohelp@vt.edu.
To print to the photocopiers:
- Download postscript or PCL printer driver specific to your computer from the website: http://onyxweb.mykonicaminolta.com/OneStopProductSupport/
For Macs:
- Run the installer that you downloaded in step 1.
- Go to the System Preferences and scroll down to “Printers & Scanners”
- At the bottom of the printer list on the, click “Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax”
- Click “IP” and fill out the following information:
- Address: Enter in the copier IP address (see above)
- Protocol: Line Printer Daemon
- Queue: leave blank
- Name: Anything you want
- Location: Anything you want
- Use: Click the drop down menu and select “Select Software…” Then find and select the KONICA MINOLTA driver specific to the printer model you’re trying to install (458 for Mailroom 1 or 958 for Mailroom 2)
- Click “Add” once the correct driver is selected
- For the Mailroom 1 printer, on the next window, select “PC-416” as the paper source unit and “FS-539” for the finisher. For the Mailroom 2 printer, on the next window, select “LU-303” as the paper source unit, “FS-537” as the finisher, and “PK-523 (2/3-Hole)” as the punch unit.
- Click “OK” and the printer should now be added.
For Windows:
- Run the installer that you downloaded in step 1.
- Agree to the user agreement, and select “Install printers/MFPs” and click “Next”.
- Select “Specify manually” and then select “IPv4, IPv6 Address/IP Host Name:” and enter the IP address of the printer you want to install (see above)
- Click “OK” and then “Next”
- If given a list of drivers, deselect all except for one ending in PS or PCL and click “Next”
- Click “Install” and on the final screen, you’re given the options to rename the printer and alter its default settings.
- First, rename the printer to whatever you want so that you can easily recognize its name.
- Now we will need to save your lab’s 4-digit copy code into the printer settings by selecting “Print Settings” and then under the “Basic” tab, selecting “Authentication/Account Track…”.
- Leave “Department Name” empty and enter your copy code into the “Password” box. Then click “OK” twice.
- Click Finish and you are done.
