Derring and LS1 Mailroom Printer Installation Instructions

Printer Models

Derring Hall:
  • Mailroom 1: KONICA MINOLTA bizhub 458
  • Mailroom 2: KONICA MINOLTA bizhub 958
LS1:
  • First Floor: KONICA MINOLTA bizhub 751 
  • Second Floor: KONICA MINOLTA bizhub 223

To print to the photocopiers:

Note: If a computer is having difficulty finding or installing drivers, send in a ticket to Biological Sciences IT.

  1. Download postscript or PCL printer driver specific to your computer from the website:  http://onyxweb.mykonicaminolta.com/OneStopProductSupport/

For Macs:

  1. Run the installer that you downloaded in step 1.
  2. Go to the System Preferences and click “Printers & Scanners”
  3. At the bottom of the printer list on the left, Click the + and then “Add Printer or Scanner”
  4. Click IP and fill out the following information:
  • Address: Enter in the copier IP address (ask Biological Sciences IT or copy from another connected computer)
  • Protocol: Line Printer Daemon
  • Queue: leave blank
  • Name: Anything you want (ex: Mailroom 1)
  • Location: Anything you want (ex: Mailroom 1)
  • Use: Click the drop down menu and select “Select Software…” Then find and select the KONICA MINOLTA driver specific to the printer model you’re trying to install (458 for Mailroom 1 or 958 for Mailroom 2)
  1. Add the printer once the correct driver is selected
  2. On the next window, click on the drop down menu next to “Paper Source Unit” and select the bottom option and then “OK”.
  3. The printer should now be added and you will need to next enter your lab’s copy code into its settings in order to print.
  4. Open a blank Word document.
  5. Begin the process to “Print” the document.
  6. In the printer dialog window, select the desired Konica Minolta Bizhub in the top drop-down list.
  7. In the “Copies & Pages” drop-down list, choose “Output Method”
  8. Click the “Account Track” box.
  9. Leave “Department Name” empty and enter your lab’s 4-digit copy code into “Password”.
  10. Click the “Save Settings” box and “OK” (Important: if you don’t do this you will have to enter the copy code each time)
  11. Now we have to save these printer settings with account track enabled as the default settings. To do this, click on the drop down menu next to “Presets” and select “Save Current Settings as Preset…” Name your new preset “Account Track” and click “OK”.
  12. Hold down the “option” key on your keyboard and click “Print”. This will save your newly created “Account Track” preset as the default for this printer.

 

For Windows:

  1. Run the installer that you downloaded in step 1.
  2. Agree to the user agreement, and select “Install printers/MFPs” and click “Next”.
  3. You may be able to scan for available printers automatically, but if no printer shows up after the automatic scan, select “Specify manually” and then select “IPv4, IPv6 Address/IP Host Name:” and enter the IP address of the printer you want to install (ask Biological Sciences IT or copy from another connected computer)
  4. Click “OK” and then “Next”
  5. If given a list of drivers, deselect all except for one ending in PS or PCL and click “Next”
  6. Click “Install” and on the final screen, you’re given the options to rename the printer and alter its default settings.
  7. First, rename the printer to whatever you want so that you can easily recognize its name.
  8. Now we will need to save your lab’s 4-digit copy code into the printer settings by selecting “Print Settings” and then under the “Basic” tab, selecting “Authentication/Account Track…”.
  9. Leave “Department Name” empty and enter your copy code into the “Password” box. Then click “OK” twice.
  10. Click Finish.
